Slide Show
We woke up this morning ready to go to a water park with our kids. When we got there, and saw all the "great" slides, we thought there was no way we could spend 6 hours here. The water park looked extremely boring and childish. 6 hours later and that was one of the best days of my life, but let me explain how that was possible. I entered the park with responsibility of 2 specific kids, and the second we entered, these kids faces lit up and the amount of excitement that they h

Waking up in the morning can be a very difficult task for many. This task is only made more difficult by extremely late bedtimes and exhausting days. Even though my friends and I went to bed late, we jumped out of bed at 6:50 am to wake up our girls. We did this because we understand that morning wake up is such a special time. There, we get the privilege to be the first thing these girls see when they open their eyes. These children don't have parents that come and wake them

House of Cards
I never thought a simple card game would have an impact on the way I think. This morning, when I woke up, I went to my kid's room and played cards for a half hour with one of my girls, Shira. Shira is a special, but tough girl. While some girls show their love by giving hugs, kisses, and telling us, Shira expresses her love through her actions. After our card game, Everyone went downstairs for water slides and cotton candy. To my surprise, Shira dragged me everywhere she went

Treat House
We kicked off a HOT day at AS with a spa for the girls including mani/pedis, bracelet/necklace making, hair coloring, etc. while the boys had army training run by our very own חייל, Gabe Low. We then went to town to get some food and hang out with each other- it's so crazy to think that we all just met each other a few days ago because I feel like I've known everyone here for yeaaarsss. When we came back we had a chance to chill with our kids, which was amazing because it sho

Welcome Home
After late night pizza and birthday celebrations, this morning some of us joined the Pnimiat Yom kids at the pool. The rest of us woke up a little later and went to buy decorations for the home. We decorated the gate and the entire cheder ochel in order to welcome the kids back in a more exciting and warm manner. We had music playing when they walked in, similar to the first day. However, this time the kids were smiling and excited to see us. Instead of running away from our

Small Acts Go a Long Way
Today, we were supposed to wake up early and go to Leket, but due to the sweltering 103 degree heat we were unable to do so. Instead, we woke up our kids and hung out with them indoors. Two of my girls and I decided to go on a walk through the streets of Afula and look at the different stores. Then we got back and hung out in their room just talking and laughing about random things. I've come to realize that by just hanging with my girls and doing nothing I grow closer to the

Recharge and Reconnect
After a difficult yet rewarding introductory week with our kids, we took an off day and went to the beach. We had so much fun playing volleyball and swimming, despite 4 jellyfish stings. The late wake-up and fun day together in the sun was a great way to relax and get pumped for Shabbos. It also allowed the group to bond and become even closer. It is crazy to think that we have become so close after such few experiences together. Later today, we will be celebrating Michael's

Happy AS Can Be
As opposed to going home for the weekend, a majority of the kids stayed at Achuzat Sara for a special shabbos with us. With a mix of American and Israeli tunes everyone came together at Kabbalat Shabbat to sing and dance as we brought in shabbos. We realized that even though we have a lot of differences, there's nothing that can stop us from forming a strong relationship with the kids. After eating dinner with the kids we broke up into pairs to discuss the highlights and cha

Oar-deal
Today we went on a trip with our groups to kfar bloom to raft. I am a counselor for the youngest group of girls ages 8-10. My group went to an area with water activities and games. We had a lot of fun.
The reason I had fun was not because the activities were so exciting and adventurous. Instead, what made it fun was seeing the kids have fun. The kids have fun when they see we are having fun. Therefore , I tried my best to give each activity as much energy and excitem

Sleepover with 'Chuzzy'
Wake up this morning was earlier than ever at 7am for girls and 6 for boys. The packing was crazy because we were all amidst doing laundry from our crazy fun water fights. Once everyone got their stuff together we loaded the busses. Then we all headed out to go "skiing" and on a mini water hike. The girls and boys split up to cool down and have fun with their קבוצות. We all then met up at a spring to have lunch and swim some more. Everyone was exhausted after being out in the
